We are excited to offer Vilasa Homes residents a gift for shopping Generation Royal, luxury home textiles. We talked to Andrew McGowen, Founder, to give you an introduction to Generation Royal and design ideas for your new home.

Brand/label name, what your creative practice is, how and when you began?

Generation Royal launched in 2021 as a home textile company to bring craftsmanship and luxury quality textiles back into the hands of consumers worldwide. Sourcing fabrics and producing a first round of pillows can sometimes take days, or even weeks for us to choose exactly how the end product will look. From the initial process of choosing a textile, to deciding the pattern placement, or even choosing the direction of the “nap” for how the fabric faces when the light hits, are all pieces of our process before we can start cutting and sewing.

What is the inspiration of your home textiles?

Each client of ours is different and tends to have a different design style for their home, but we still stay grounded to energize quality. Visual appearance is only a third of our process when being inspired by a textile. We tend to source weighted fabrics with texture and design you can not only see, but also feel. An old-world classic in manufacturing, with adding in a modern touch in design. Our luxury designer fabrics include Scalamandre, Jean Paul Gaultier, Schumacher, Romo, Aldeco, and Johnson Hartig.

Vilasa Homes is inspired by Alys Beach; seeing the interior design and finishes, what fabrics/colors would you recommend?

Simple lines and elegant textiles will really make the space overall. Recommending staying in a neutral pallet with bold patterns in white, black, or beige. Or adding in pops of color such as Blues, Greens, or Yellows will really add to the already existing elegant character of the design. Textiles sourced from the House of Scalamandre would be our starting recommendation for this design.
